The sports talent as a pedagogical challenge: a reflection on and analysis of results from project The dual-career of atlhete-students in secondary school
Abstract
This article aims to approach the concept of sports talent in a pedagogical
way by stressing the importance of its cultivation and preservation in young
generations of athletes. The paper is structured into two parts. In the first
part, we define the concept of sports talent according to scientific literature.
In the second one, we conduct a quali-quantitative analysis on the results
from the case study of a project dealing with the dual-career of student-
athletes attending a secondary school in a district of Rome, Italy. In
conclusion, the research shows how all actions and strategies effectively
structured and aimed at helping student-athletes to couple sports career
and successful academic life are useful for the promotion of holistic learning
and the right to education of young athletes.
