Formazione & insegnamento publishes a minimum of three issues per year (Spring, Summer, and Winter).

The journal follows an "open call" policy: the call is always open and submissions could be made all year round (exception made for website maintenance). Proposals are assessed when they are received and, if accepted, they are published in the earliest available issue.

Additionally, the journal welcomes the editing of special sections or issues deriving from specific events involving the Italian and international scholarly community (e.g., proceedings). Regular issues, when extensive, are divided into two tomes, with a 30 days delay between the first and the second.

Formazione & insegnamento also hosts a special section on "Sports and Motor Learning", promoted by the Italian Society for Sports and Motor Learning (SIEMeS). Given the wealth of contribution coming from the field, the special section might published in separate supplements, which follow the same rules of the special issues. The review and editorial process is the same for regular issues and supplements.
