El cuerpo y la experiencia directa constituyen la base del aprendizaje de cada persona; es necesario partir de ellos para generar conocimiento. El entorno escolar debe ser un espacio acogedor, capaz de apoyar y estimular, donde el docente desempeñe un papel decisivo, ya que puede implicar al alumnado ofreciendo propuestas creativas y motivadoras. La escuela, aún hoy, no siempre reserva un espacio para el movimiento, entendido no solo como una asignatura curricular que se imparte en horarios establecidos, sino como una práctica habitual, constante y repetida, transversal y aplicable a la vida cotidiana. La revisión de la literatura, realizada a través del análisis de estudios sobre niños en edad preescolar y escolar, se utilizó para verificar científicamente los beneficios y el apoyo que el cuerpo puede ofrecer, tanto en casos de desarrollo neurotípico como con discapacidad. Esta reflexión confirma que las habilidades motoras, asociadas a un movimiento adecuado, pueden generar mejoras a nivel cognitivo, físico, social y emocional.
