Résumé

Cet article explore le rôle crucial des communautés hospitalières civiles et religieuses dans la construction de l’éducation sanitaire au cours du Moyen Âge dans la région de la Padanie. À travers une analyse des origines, du développement et des pratiques éducatives de ces institutions, l’étude met en évidence la manière dont elles ont contribué de manière significative à la diffusion des connaissances médicales et hygiéniques auprès de la population. L’article souligne l’importance des communautés hospitalières non seulement en tant que centres de soins, mais également en tant qu’agents éducatifs capables d’influencer les pratiques sanitaires et les politiques publiques locales. Une étude de cas spécifique – la Ca’ Granda de Milan – approfondit l’impact d’une seule communauté hospitalière sur la société locale, illustrant les dynamiques entre ces institutions et le contexte socio-économique et culturel de la Padanie médiévale. Enfin, l’article propose une réflexion sur l’héritage laissé par ces communautés dans le domaine de l’éducation sanitaire et sur leur pertinence pour les études contemporaines en histoire de la médecine et de l’éducation sanitaire.
