Laboratory activities for talent education in prison: assessment of the impact on self-esteem

Abstract

This paper explores the idea that a learning process based on talent development is the only one capable of producing a developmental and transformative impact on the learner, in particular in deviant contexts. After identifying the fundamental trigger of potential in the development of a healthy self-concept, this study aimed to offer empirical evidence of the importance of proposing, in the context of prison reeducation, laboratory activities in line with the potential manifested by those to whom the intervention is aimed, so as to encourage the training of their talents, in view of their social reintegration as active citizens within the community. The positive effect of this strategy has been demonstrated by the increase in self-esteem ratings reported by inmates, after the implementation of the educational program.
