Fabricantes de chaves: Pontos de inflexão genealógicos e seu impacto ontológico na era do gatekeeping e da bibliometria

Resumo

Este ensaio oferece uma reflexão filosófica sobre o universo das publicações científicas, examinando a relação entre o gatekeeping editorial, as infraestruturas bibliométricas e as assimetrias de poder. Em primeiro lugar, distingue entre uma compreensão positiva do gatekeeping, entendido como uma prática complexa de mediação e coordenação, e uma compreensão negativa, na qual ele aparece como um dispositivo excludente e colonial. Com base nisso, desenvolve uma investigação genealógica em torno de dois pontos de inflexão decisivos da publicação científica do pós-Segunda Guerra Mundial: a Pergamon Press de Robert Maxwell e o Institute for Scientific Information de Eugene Garfield. O ensaio argumenta que essas duas trajetórias contribuíram para a consolidação de uma ordem editorial neoliberal marcada pela mercantilização, pela fragmentação do conhecimento e pelas desigualdades estruturais na visibilidade científica global. Em seguida, a análise passa do plano genealógico para o ontológico, sustentando que os instrumentos bibliométricos não apenas medem o valor científico, mas tendem cada vez mais a operar como técnicas ritualizadas que prometem acesso privilegiado a ele. A conclusão afirma que tal ordem se baseia em uma compreensão parcial e distorcida do valor científico e que qualquer transformação genuína do sistema requer uma reconsideração crítica de seus aparatos subjacentes.
