Abstract

The use of emerging technologies in the school is a main topic in the debate that involved academic researchers and school teachers. At this time, the widespread availability of technologies and digital networks represents a social and cultural phenomenon with high relevance for the development of the children since they are usually called digital natives. Of note, the schools have to feel with that phenomenon for designing the most adequate curriculum of each subject. On the contrary, a review of literature shows that the use of emerging technologies in the school lessons is somewhat limited. By considering this statement as a limit, in this study we discussed the use of new technologies for assessing the developmental levels of fundamental movement
skills in physical education curriculum as a valid and efficacy solution for improving the results obtained with the current assessment methods. Furthermore, the role of this integration was discussed by considering the results and the evidences provided in up-to-date scientific studies.
