An Educational Leadership to support teachers’ professional growth and organizational development

Abstract

The article presents an empirical research aimed to analyze the role of Principals
as promoters of teachers’ professional development, with the awareness
that taking care of own teachers, means not only promoting the empowerment
of the staff, but also the organizational development. For this
purpose we used a qualitative tool a semi-structured interview aimed at 16
Principals of comprehensive schools of Lombardia.This research fits in a
wider one, that has involved 913 teachers of the same educational Institutions;
in fact, a structured and self- filled questionnaire has been submitted
to them in order to investigate their training needs and the correspondence
between these ones and the training pathways realised within their Institutions.
This specific article focuses. on the Principal’s role as a leader who is
able to promote teachers’ professional growth and the development of his
school organization.
