Questo articolo analizza l’intersezione unica tra politica, pedagogia e leadership per la giustizia sociale nell’educazione, incarnata nella vita e nel lavoro di Marielle Franco, sociologa, attivista per i diritti umani e politica brasiliana. Cresciuta nella favela di Maré a Rio de Janeiro, Franco ha sviluppato un approccio attivista che ha ridefinito la teoria educativa per affrontare le sfide specifiche delle comunità urbane marginalizzate in Brasile. L’articolo offre un’analisi critica della filosofia educativa di Franco, del suo ruolo di leadership nella promozione dell’inclusione e della giustizia sociale, della sua applicazione dell’intersezionalità e delle implicazioni più ampie del suo lavoro per le pratiche educative contemporanee. Inoltre, riflette sull’impatto del suo assassinio nel 2018, che ha ulteriormente consolidato il suo lascito come potente simbolo di resistenza contro l’oppressione sistemica. I contributi di Franco offrono un modello convincente per integrare educazione, attivismo politico e dialogo interculturale, fornendo preziose intuizioni per affrontare le sfide legate alla diversità nel mondo globalizzato odierno.
