The evolution of the concept of body care: the philosophical perspective and the neurosciences
Abstract
Body and soul dualism, in its various interpretations, has had an enourmous
influence on the Western culture. Starting from a review of the critical issues
that characterized the process around which philosophical research
has developed, the reflection conducted in this work aims to achieve a key
objective. It wants to point out the positivity of the educational contributions
of the science of human movement: it has allowed to recover the
modern notion of “body”, by anchoring it to the values of the care for the
well-being of the person and of society.
