The amoral slapdash attitude. A consideration about the 1968 educational responsibility
Abstract
During the protests of 1968, students who attended university and school
intercepted the Zeitgeist. It caused an unexpected uprising and epochal
consequences. Nowadays, after half a century, it has deeply changed society
to some, while it is the origin of society’s main diseases to others. The answer
to students’ claims was the simplification of educational programmes.
It created a slapdash attitude, definable amoral because of its results. This
paper suggests the necessity for young people to revolt and to ask for more
meritocratic and flexible schools and universities, capable of offering appropriate
expertise to face the furious change of time. Teachers should
guide students and should open their minds. In this way, they put an end to
the amoral slapdash attitude which transformed students in victims. Fifty
years on from the protest of 1968, this action is necessary in the unreality
and outdatedness of this proposal.
