Abstract

Bringing the relationship between education and the South back to the forefront means first of all requiring the responsibility of the teachers of the southern schools and universities, to create a democratic education based on merit, the only condition that can create social mobility and reduce the starting distances. Meridian pedagogy is an idea at the service of the country, because not only is it necessary to ensure that the South is not thought of by others, but that Italy is also not thought of by others. In fact, meridian pedagogy takes on a meaning within a pedagogy of the nation, which takes note of the educational
delays that unfold differently in the two areas of the country, inviting us to develop a pedagogical thought that takes into account the radical transformations of society, rethinking how Italy tells itself, first of all addressing the basic issues of the quality of education, the growing territorial differences, the characteristics of our democracy, marked more and more by a renewed inequality.
