Abstract

The European Union (EU) has identified the social and educational role of
sport and physical activity as a key theme for research. The assumption is
that European citizens are involved in a continuous learning process
throughout their lives. In physical and sport education context, the role of
teachers, trainers and instructors is the pivot around which the goal of lifelong
learning. The cultural and professional barriers, unfortunately, between
the roles of which the first and the lack of a thorough and well-developed
knowledge base centered on pedagogical sciences, seems to be a
serious impediment. The pedagogy of physical exercise and sport is proposed
as an area of study, based on the educational aspects of the movement,
interdisciplinary, located in an area sometimes known as “Sports and
Exercise”, “Kinesiology”, “Human Movement Sciences”, “Science of Fitness”.
