Improve the quality of life of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder through workplace experience: an investigation in Lombardy
Abstract
Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder face significant challenges entering
the workforce; yet research in this area is limited and the issues are
poorly understood. This research investigates the work experience of 20 individuals
from job search to confirmation within the organization. Through
interviews with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, family members,
company tutors and supported placement counselors, this study highlighted
the benefits to the quality of life of the subjects and the strategies
that can accomplish a positive experience.
