Towards Integrated Disability Management within Organizations: Analysis of Some Empirical Researches
Abstract
Disability Management’s goal is to reconcile the needs of disabled employees
with those of the organization they work in. This article analyzes the nature
and types of intervention that are implemented within the workplace
to encourage disabled employee returnees following disabling events.
Research has been selected using the Critical Review Form by Lett and colleagues
(2007).
For each program implemented are presented: the objectives, the sample,
the timing and the expected activities. From the analysis of the selected research
it emerged that most of the interventions concern people with physical
disability and are carried out before the return of the employee or during
his first working period. Interventions may concern changes in the
physical environment, tasks assigned to the employee, procedures to complete
the tasks or the colleagues.
