Abstract

This contribution aims at identifying Italian trends and perspectives in educational and formative research when faced with the international context. The dialectic tension between global and local views advocates for an ever greater role of the international institutions in dealing with the internal paths and balances of pedagogical inquiry. Such role affects: the very nature of PhD courses belonging to the educational-formative field of study; research objectives and
criteria; the training of a PhD student. The analysis of the role of research in Italian PhD courses is accomplished starting from their works.
