The training of teachers and trainers: 2020 outlooks

Abstract

During last years, a worldwide educational and training space emerged as the result of the convergence of three overlapping dimensions: the framework of knowledge society, the development of new technologies, and the growing interaction between economy and education-training. Consequently, the training of teachers and trainers is strongly affected, thus requiring a careful examination concerned with its consistency with the 2020 outlooks. Hence, this papers aims at exploring the European landscape, especially its aspects related to knowledge welfare and lifelong learning, as well as the strategy guidelines for 2020—focussing on the topics of education and training. It then exposes the key-role of teachers, education funding, professional communities. Finally, some unanswered questions are
highlighted.
