Teachers to the test. A research study on observation tools and the professional profile of nursery and primary school teachers

This article aims at presenting, on one hand, an experience of professional learning of the teachers-tutors of newly recruited teachers through the participation in a research community. On the other hand, it illustrates the re-sults of a study related to the use of tools for observing and evaluating teachers' performances during the year of induction and probation. All activites have been carried out within the framework of an agreement between the USR for Tuscany, which was responsible of tutor training to support newly recruited teachers in the induction period, and the University of Florence having in charge the preparation of future teachers, attending the Teacher Education Course for Primary School.
