El movimiento medioambiental Extinction Rebellion: Un contexto que educa para el cuidado, la descentralización efectiva y la acción no violenta

Resumen

Extinction Rebellion es un movimiento ecologista que practica acciones de desobediencia civil no violenta para instar a los gobiernos a actuar contra la crisis eco-climática. La tesis defendida en este artículo es que Extinction Rebellion representa un contexto particularmente interesante desde el punto de vista educativo, porque se basa en metodologías organizativas muy estructuradas, a través de las cuales los principios fundacionales del movimiento se encarnan en prácticas que sus miembros tienden a aprender e interiorizar. En particular, se destacarán tres dimensiones del movimiento: en primer lugar, se trata de un ambiente caracterizado por una fuerte atención a las prácticas de cuidado personal, interpersonal y comunitario; en segundo lugar, es una organización descentralizada que permite distribuir responsabilidades y evitar concentraciones de poder, protegiendo al mismo tiempo la eficacia de los procesos decisionales; finalmente, es un espacio que entrena para practicar acciones políticas no violentas.
