Continuing education as a fundamental condition for the educational policies of the future
Abstract
The historical context in which we live, which is characterized the society of knowledge and widespread learning, continuously requires updated skills in all areas of employment. For this reason, the training of human resources (i.e. people) represents a primary goal to be achieved. Hence, thorough investments are required for training activities aimed at empowering individuals and communities, thanks to the proposal of experiences which wouldallow it to capitalize on everybody’s skills—in order to enhance their resources on the cognitive, psycho-emotional, social-relational and working dimensions. Continuing education emerges as the indispensable design framework of contemporary educational policies and reforms. It would help to implement, at the formal level of the system, qualitatively valuable learning that enhances the links and relationships between people thus promoting the human and professional sensitivity so that they constitute
themselves as a community of practice that develops the sense of belonging to their own organization.
