Abstract

This paper offers a framework of how the paradigms of non-formal and informal education apply to museums. The educational theories museums deal with range between theories of knowledge and theories of learning. An important section is dedicated to the features of  constructivist museums. The latter ones value social change as well as the social responsibility needed to achieve, among its goals, the growth of  gentivity and a teachinglearning process that is appropriate and respectful of the new paradigms of complexity. That is done in order to mediate the understanding of museums.
