This essay aims to carry out an analysis and to advance theses that are placed along a line of criticism of the current structure of economic theory and practice, indicating a possible alliance between pedagogy and civil economy declined in the sense of a healthy environmental sustainability and which has as its point of convergence the vision of the human being taken as a whole. In this, pedagogy can make an effective contribution for overcoming the unilateral figure of homo oeconomicus and for the transformation of the radical change in the utilitarian paradigm, unfortunately still dominant, to build an economy oriented towards a good life and a non-predatory relationship with nature.
