Instances of Kantian criticism in contemporary French philosophy of education

Abstract

In pedagogy, the Kantian line of modern thinking has not only a philosophical
or speculative value, but it also constitutes the basis of many criticalmethodological
instances of agentivity. This paper investigates Kant’s influence over present-day French philosophers of education (namely, Jacky Beillerot, Francis Imbert, Francis Danvers, Philippe Meirieu, and Franc Morandi). Such Kantian influence is hereby understood not as a mere legacy of modernity, but as something that answers to the conscious need for continuity between the logical forms of knowledge and the sensory forms of experience, which are both constitutive elements of instruction and education.
