The identification of pedagogical practices can allow us to focus attention on some aspects of pedagogical action that are often overlooked by scientific research and relegated to the individual professional’s responsibility and individual activity. The aim is to highlight the methods through which the pedagogical disciplines base their practices oriented towards the educational care of the subject in training. This contribution aims to shed light on the applications of the photographic device in the field of research and pedagogical intervention. The pedagogical utility of using photography as an activator and mediator of relationships has been highlighted in Italian and international literature. Although the application of the tool to the educational context may vary according to the objectives and the contextual specificities, some areas of application can be declined here: the meeting with the parents, the use of the sequence and the photographic story with children, educational documentation, the Philosophy for Children, the use of photography beyond school and intervention with adults in the clinic of training and clinical pedagogy.
