Abstract

Prison is a misunderstood reality by many not employees, female structures
even more for the particular dynamics that regulate the relationships, the
result not only of gender differences but determined by the particular roles
played in the original contexts. This article deals with an experience of theater
workshop with the high security female prisoners, analyzing the objectives,
contents and methods. The theater practice in prison makes it possible
to overcome closures and memberships, allowing detainees, mostly
from organized forms of criminality, to exchange views on a plot in which
the roles are not as predetermined by social contexts of origin. The pedagogical
experience of the theater makes it possible to build an effective
treatment tool for the personal growth, to manage constructively the period
of detention and to start a process of critical review of the experience,
main objective of the penitentiary ri-educational system.
