Mind in action Training physical educator to sense emotions and the body
Abstract
It has been shown that motivation and sense of self-efficacy of teachers can affect motivation and sense of self-efficacy of students. The aim of this study is to determine the factors that affect motivation, sense of self-efficacy and behaviour of teachers and students toward the practice of physical activity.Methods. Number of teachers (volunteers) of the lower and upper secondary school recruited for the study: 100. Duration of the study: 1 academic year with meetings every 15 days from October to May. Tools and procedures: questionnaires to teachers and students, interviews with open questions, plenary meetings, group meetings, small group meetings. Expected results: increased motivation of teachers toward their teaching action and
increased sense of self-efficacy; related increase in motivation and sense of self-efficacy toward the practice of physical activity by the students; assignment of new implicit and explicit meanings by pupils and teachers; re-evaluation of his/her new behaviour by teachers.
The project develops within the routine teaching activities and is associated to immediate processing and reprocessing of emotional aspects by teachers. The advantage of this approach is its straight translation into teaching practices; it also provides the opportunity for teachers to redefine their attitude and motivation within the context of their own activity.
An additional innovative aspect is the body-emotional dimension in the construction of new networks of meaning.
