Education systems’ quality and the recruitment of teachers: Trends and models emerging within the OCSE context

Abstract

This article explores some of the main recruitment models for teachers
adopted in OECD countries, assuming their remarkable role in the process of enhancing the quality of education systems. More specifically the article focuses on the main trends that characterise the modernization of the sector, by taking into account national and sub-national differences. Selected countries includes England, Germany (North Rhine – Westphalia), France, Spain, Switzerland (Canton Ticino), United States and South Korea. The article
compares case studies and proposes some concluding remarks on
cross-national common trends.
