Being young in school and society
Abstract
This paper aims to provide some critical contributions on a very controversial, compelling, and problematic issue. Nowadays, the condition of young people is set in an uncertain scenario characterized by profound changes and complexity. Such condition covers anthropological, cultural and educational factors that call for new paradigms and a critical review of the current educational paths. It does so ranging from empathy to the “four pillars ofeducation” suggested by Delors; from the “pedagogy of passions” to the education of the soul. These are claimed to be key dimensions of learning, connected to new forms of accountability and participation, as well as to the affective, emotional, and value-related components. New insight is given for an autonomous and more self-aware human development.
