The socio-economic, cultural and political changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic have confronted us with the need to seek new development models capable of meeting major global challenges. These can only be won by placing the focus on education, which in turn must foster a human development and capabilities approach. Hence, we need to start by promoting new educational paradigms, capable of making the individual a critical agent of change. Thinking and agency must in fact proceed hand in hand in order to address the complexity that characterizes our lives. This is fundamental for the construction of a planetary citizenship, the promotion of human development and respect for fundamental freedoms, and the creation of a democratic, sustainable and inclusive society.
