Abstract

Physical activity (PA) in the pre-school period of life is of primary importance for the integral development of the child as shown by scientific studies on the positive in different areas of life, from the motor, cognitive, socio-rela-tional, affective and the negative consequences of sedentariness and inactivity. An analysis of the concept of human development elaborated by Nussbaum indicates that PA has an important role also in this area and can be a useful tool to fight and reduce the spread of educational poverty. The most suitable period of life to operate to this aim is preschool. Kindergartens are indeed the meeting points for more than 90% of children aged 3 to 6 years. For implementation of appropriate interventions is necessary to become aware of this perspective and promote educational actions to disseminate knowledge and practices in teachers, parents, and children.
