Abstract

The author, by considering the upcoming implementation of a law that includes the Motor and Sports Sciences in the primary school education path, poses the problem of the starting cultural context: how do we think today of the Motor and Sports Sciences? Are they congruent with the motor-sports Plurivalorial System presented in the paper? Through a Case study methodology, using both qualitative and quantitative data, it’s argued that the cultural context of current sport, is supported by a utilitarian approach and is the result of pushes deriving from post-modernity, converging in a liquefaction of values. The apt “liquid-solid” expression coined by Bauman acts as a magnifying glass of the current sports culture. The author also presents in the paragraph “Cultural paradigms on movement and sport”, the current utilitarian essence, with contaminations up to the academic world of motor and sports sciences, contrasting a systemic / plurivalorial vision. In the conclusions, this cultural vision is re-proposed, with the enrichment of the sport / relational good formula, which the author considers a starting point for any kind of analysis concerning the sports field.
