Bimbisvegli in Serravalle d’Asti’s small school. Didactic activities for supporting competencies development and citizenship education in a small school

Abstract

This paper presents a complex didactic experience, which discovered in the distinctive features of small schools a space of didactic experimentation aimed at supporting the development of competencies and citizenship education. The formation of educational networks was sustained by two teaching approaches: strategic work in mixed-age groups and the close relationship between school and territory, important for realizing outdoor education and social activities. This educational community is directly related to the repopulation of Serravalle’s small school, which, in fact, is being chosen by an increasing number of families.
