The Reciprocal Change: the Empowerment-oriented Relationship

Abstract

Empowerment is a construct aiming at increasing the personal power and expanding the individual existential capabilities. Counseling is a non clinical modality of helping relationship, whose aim is not the recovery from a pathology, but rather a problem resolution or a decision making. Here is proposed an empowerment oriented counseling based on the educational model of the self training and the self power. The philosophical counseling is near enough to the proposed model. The goal is the opening of a new inner horizon of the subject according to a self empowerment logic which enables the dreaming subject to experience possibilitation processes. The empowerment oriented counseling appeals to the dream as the wishing power of realizing the self.
