Abstract

It is significantly important that future primary school teachers are able to know how to cope with the contemporary world of Children’s Literature and acquire the methodological skills to design educational pathways for a literature-centered character education. In this study, we aimed to identify the principles and strategies for an efficient character development in primary school pupils through Children’s Literature and thanks to the design of innovative practices, making specific reference to the “Character Education Movement”. The study was conducted with 170 students of Primary Education Course at the University of Palermo. The results indicate the improvement of students’ awareness regarding the importance
of reading for an effective character education.
