Abstract

The article presents an empirical research aimed to analyze the training teachers’needs with the awareness that the need to constantly redefine their skills in a versatile way, requires teachers of today’s school, to be engaged in a process of lifelong learning that will support the structure of their cultural competence, through the development of appropriate forms to “work strategically in their own time.” For this purpose a quantitative tool has been used: a self-filled questionnaire submitted to 913 teachers of comprehensive schools of Lombardy. In this article are described the characteristics of the tool and presented the results concerning the professional development teachers’needs, the value placed on the teachers’ training, the correspondence between the real teachers’ professional
needs and the training pathways realised within their institutions.
