The work analyzed the misconceptions of preschool and elementary school children of the San Vero Milis Comprehensive Institution on the basis of simple educational questionnaires concerning water, stream and freshwater fish. The responses were analyzed using the mixed methods approach, involving in a first phase qualitative analysis by evaluating and identifying misconceptions and a second phase quantitative analysis consisting of frequency and correlation analysis of the overall data by questionnaire type and assigned evaluation judgment. Plurime result misconceptions to a greater extent about water and to some extent about fish of which the child has some knowledge from experience or attractiveness, compared to waterways for which the responses are almost negative. The work constitutes an initial industry contribution to the identification of misconceptions and the preparation of corrective interventions from the early stages of the first cycle of education as well as to the social function of teaching in inland water biology according to the citizen science approach.
