Abstract

In this essay some critical considerations on the present state of Western liberal democracies and on the digital human condition at the time of artificial intelligence are proposed. This is a necessary premise for being able to not naively rethink the role of education today, its immediate tasks tending to go beyond the present time in emancipatory and not adaptive terms, The advent of illiberal democracies, the rise of techno-political oligarchies and the threat to educational pluralism are also discussed. The value extraction from the human daily experience considered as a raw material is examinated too. Education should dismiss from the neoliberal catechism rediscovering and cultivating the human intelligence.
