Abstract

Starting from an analysis of the existing scientific literature and the results of an exploratory survey conducted within the University of Foggia, the paper proposes some critical and design reflections on the evaluation practices that have characterized the Italian university in recent years, with reference to the AVA system. This represents a true revolution for the university, which has never applied a genuine process of self-reflection on the opportunities for improving teaching and research. The AVA often refers to the centrality of students but seems to leave little space for teachers, who are called upon to play new and increasingly complex roles, sometimes without adequate awareness. Streamlined and stripped of technocratic ideologies, the AVA procedures, far from being merely imposed or a simple tool for accreditation and assessment, try to be, from a pedagogical and didactic perspective, a real locus of control, a space capable of promoting a culture of innovation and research.
