Abstract

In the field of school and social inclusion, this paper presents results from the project Reading comprehension and study strategies with high inclusive potential for students with learning difficulties. The project was created in order to identify and convey teaching strategies that are able to respond promptly to the multiple and diverse training needs that derive from the heterogeneity of classes, and it paid specific attention to the needs of students with learning difficulties whose risk of educational and social disadvantage is consistently high. Designed for use in fifth grade classes of primary school, the project provided for both the construction of a school kit, and teacher training in the application of strategies considered effective by the evidence-based education studies. The experimentation howed the effectiveness of the project and opened up interesting perspectives for creating an educational model for the development of reading comprehension.
