Abstract

The inclusion of minorities can be developed starting from the recognition of the social history of the various excluded communities, through the construction of collective narrative contexts. How can we build a peaceful growth path for the younger generations in a multicultural context? How can we draw a child of Arab origin from the outskirts of Berlin into the collective memory of a European country? How can we reduce the conflict between children growing up with different and opposing cultures and stories? This essay aims to describe concrete experiences of "public history of education", developed in Italy in meetings between Arab, Israeli and Italian students and in the experiences of the Chinese community of Prato, using storytelling as a tool to strengthen collective citizenship and social inclusion in the educational context.
