Sicily, place of landing and militant pedagogy
Abstract
Sicily has been a landing place for several years now, a transit country, a land of refuge and hope for many women, who are looking for a peaceful future. Today, more than in the past, it has the role of “Bridge Island” and it promotes the reception of immigrants, new forms of coexistence and social integration, practices of assistance and local roots, also from a gender perspective. Starting from the metaphor of the island, the essay is a reflection about gender, culture and education and it analyses, from an intercultural point of view, the experience
that each immigrant woman brings with her.
