In this essay, some considerations on the notion of “methodology of pedagogical research” are proposed, without any claim to completeness, but, instead, to highlight its polysemous aspects. In particular, the highlight goes on its impossibility to be reduced to the mere methodic practice, as, many sector manuals seem however to suggest, and on the fact that it cannot be neither solved by arguing on the preferability of one method over others. Its fecundity also lies in the unceasing commitment of exploring the interconnection of ontological, epistemological, axiological and political presuppositions of researching practices, in order to induce researchers to systematically reflect on their actions.
