Excellent adolescents at school: competitive and/or supportive?

Abstract

Starting from a recent research, the article attempts to observe the relationship between school and democracy from the high-achieving adolescents’ point of view. The focus is specifically on one of the fundamental dynamics in the construction of a democratic society: the capacity to recognize and respect the other in relation to the self, capacity that school should educate for the exercise of an active and supportive citizenship.
