Abstract

The theme of planetary identity and the vision of planet earth as a complex system have gained relevance since the second half of the 20th century, and Italian pedagogy has adequately dealt with them. In line with this tradition, the author a) introduces the theme of the Anthropocene as a cognitive and pedagogical epoch strongly hinged on collective intelligence, social learning and distributed agency. b) Next, the author examines some recent onlife social movements - operating between the embodied and virtual dimensions of socio-environmental activism - as relevant examples of collective intelligence endowed with pedagogical agency. c) Finally, the author invites educational professionals to consider the macro-social level more carefully in their work by adopting a systemic vision - also in view of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan - and developing a professional attitude for ideation and management of the learning processes of socio-ecological systems.
