About the Journal

Rassegna Italiana di Criminologia (Italian Journal of Criminology, RIC) is the official organ of the Italian Association for Criminology(https://www.criminologiaitaliana.it/)

In 1970 the first issue of the Rassegna di Criminologia (Journal of Criminology) appeared under the editorship of Professor Giacomo Canepa; the Tipografia Di Luca in Genoa was responsible for printing.

In 1990 the Italian Association for Criminology turned to the publisher Giuffrè, in Milan, for a higher circulation of the review, whose title changed to “Rassegna Italiana di Criminologia”. Since then, under the careful direction of Prof. Tullio Bandini, the journal has increased its renown in Italy and abroad and has given space to several contributions by the scholars in all the branches of social science, psychology and psychiatry, and to the contribution of experts in the fields of justice, criminal law and mental health as well.

A new stage was opened in 2007 with the publisher Pensa MultiMedia, in Lecce, and under the direction of Prof. Roberto Catanesi.  RIC, which has become peer-reviewed, is published on a rigorous quarterly basis and has been indexed on Scopus since 2013. ANVUR (National Evaluation agency of the University system and research) has included the RIC among the class A Journals for area 12 (legal sciences, 12/G1) and for area 14 (political and social sciences, 14/C3). The RIC accepts papers in Italian and English.

RIC has maintained its multi-disciplinary approach and publishes studies and research results in clinical criminology, psychology and forensic psychiatry of adulthood, childhood and adolescence, on the treatment of offenders and victims of crime, on pathological addictions related to deviant and antisocial behaviors, as well as on the sociology of deviance. Particular attention has always been paid to treatment experiences, both intra and extra-penitentiary. With over 50 years of life, Rassegna Italiana di Criminologia is one of the most important scientific reference points for criminological studies in Italy.
