The training of university teachers is today a strategic priority, especially in a context marked by profound and complex social, cultural, political, economic, digital and pedagogical changes. The article explores, from a theoretical and methodological perspective, the role of the teacher as educator and agent of change, emphasising his responsibility in the promotion of active citizenship and in the construction of a socially responsible university. The focus is on the importance of an integral and integrated education, capable of combating phenomena such as hatred, violence and exclusion, and of promoting educational environments based on dialogue, justice and inclusion. The contribution of innovative didactics and communities of practice is emphasised, as is the need for continuous, flexible and participatory training paths. In this framework, teacher training is seen not only as an institutional duty, but as a fundamental right, an essential condition for guaranteeing a quality educational offer, consistent with contemporary challenges and international standards.
