Abstract

The author makes an assessment of the current system of juvenile penal justice in Italy, 25 years after the 1988 reform, which envisaged imparting a marked educational connotation to trials and measures for minors. He also highlights the potentialities of the innovations introduced by the reform and analyses the delays and difficulties that must be overcome in order to create a system capable of containing juvenile deviancy and meeting the needs of the subjects involved.
