Cyber-bullying, a new kind of juvenile unease

Abstract

Cyberbullying is a relatively new form of abusive use of the internet that implies different forms of bullying online. In the present study, conducted with 2419 students from secondary and high schools from the province of Milan, we wanted to shed light over this new phenomena, that is a possible precursors of juvenile delinquency. The anonymous questionnaire that students filled inn revealed that 1 in 10 students have been a victim or perpetrator of cyberbullying at least sometimes in the previous six monts. Behavior in which students have been involved are harassment, impersonification, threats. All of these behaviors, even if are not all already illegal, are possible precursors or risk factors for further deviant juvenile behavior.
