Abstract

The article presents a global overview of homicides with female victims, revealing that in countries where levels of violence are lower, the proportion of women killed is higher. Firearms are generally more frequently used against men than against women, but in countries where the level of violence is higher, the percentage of women murdered with firearms is also higher. Many women killed by their partners or former partners had previously denounced violence by the same partner or former partner. It is necessary to follow and accompany women who report domestic violence to prevent further and more serious violence, often with fatal outcome.
