Dominant thought in neurosciences considers that agent’s freedom is an illusion and that we are only our brain. My main purpose is to point out some effects of such views on psychiatry, forensic psychiatric practices, criminology and society in the short/medium run. Neurosciences discoveries and results are not in a position to undermine current intuitive notions of human freedom, but the rise of neurosciences view and philosophy could have more negative than positive effects on mentioned disciplines and on culture and society as well.
